Passing of Erma Lee

On Sunday, July 26, 2015 my grandma passed away at the age of 88 years old. In the final days of her life, she wasn’t suffering and she took great joy that our family was there with her as she gave us beautiful smiles and pulled us in for kisses while we were holding her hand. My mom brought roses to the cemetery and gave my wife and daughter one. I wanted to create a photograph that would use them as a memory of her passing.

A Personal Project…

After being hidden away its original box for 50 years, my mom brought out my grandma’s 1953 Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera. Hearing my mom talk about the memories from her childhood that were captured with the Hawk, I thought it would be fun to see what would happen during a family camping weekend with my mom & dad using the Brownie Hawkeye. Little did I know that this would start a personal project of my own – discovering the world of film photography with a simple 1953 Brownie Hawkeye.
